Job Opportunity: Assistant Library Director 

The Pelham Public Library in Pelham, NH, is seeking an experienced professional to work closely with the Library Director and a customer service-oriented staff. As part of the leadership team with the Director, the successful candidate will have initiative, the ability to make sound decisions within broad and general policies and procedures, and experience motivating and supporting a team. 

The Assistant Library Director has secondary administrative responsibility for the provision of library services. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making, as well as frequent interaction with the community, town officials and senior staff, local groups and organizations.  

Duties: The Assistant Director assists the Library Director with administration, development, planning and/or overseeing all aspects of library operations, including but not limited to: personnel selection and supervision, assisting with budgeting preparations and expenditures, collection development, building and grounds maintenance, Adult programming, policies, plans, and procedures. 

Required Qualifications: Master’s of Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution, and three to five years of professional public library experience, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.

Salary: This is a full-time (40 hours/week), exempt position, and includes regular evening meetings and occasional weekend hours. The library offers a competitive salary range ($58,000-$67,000) as well as an excellent Town benefits package. Job Opportunity:  Library Assistant I 

The Pelham Public Library is looking for a friendly and energetic team member to work on the main circulation desk of our library, assisting at the children’s circulation desk when necessary. The successful candidate will have creative problem solving abilities and be attentive to details. We are looking for someone who will contribute to a positive environment and exhibit a commitment to our library’s mission. 

 Duties: General duties include checking materials in and out, handling reserved materials, cash transactions, creating displays, providing excellent customer service to patrons both in person and over the phone, promoting library services to patrons, and a host of other tasks. This position also assists technical services in processing new materials and handling repairs. 

 Qualifications: HS diploma required. Candidate must have excellent customer relations skills and proficiency with computers; must have experience with Microsoft Office and G Suite.  Experience working in a public or school library highly desirable. Candidates must also be detail-oriented, with the ability to alphabetize and correctly shelve materials in Dewey Decimal order.  Good physical condition is required to be able to push heavy carts, reach upper shelves, bend, stoop, lift, and stand for long periods of time.

Salary: $15.00 – $16.00/HR, 7 hrs./week, includes nights and rotating weekends.
