How do I get started?
Blackstone Unlimited: We recommend signing up for Blackstone Unlimited through a web browser at the link provided above. Once you have an account, you can download the Blackstone Unlimited app to log in and view or listen to your items.
Libby: For most tablets and smartphones, including iphones, ipads, and android, simply download the Libby app from your app store and then follow the instructions in the app to add your library card. The Libby help page can assist you with set up instructions for these and other devices. Librarians are also happy to assist and walk you through set up.
What is the difference between Overdrive and Libby?
Overdrive is the company that NH State Downloadable Books contracts with to provide ebooks and e-audiobooks. Libby, created and maintained by Overdrive, is the app used to access those ebooks and e-audiobooks. Whether you access ebooks through Overdrive's website on your computer or through the Libby app on your mobile device, you will have access to the same collection of materials.
What is the difference between Blackstone Unlimited and Libby?
Blackstone Unlimited: A service that Pelham Public Library subscribes to directly. It contains only e-audiobooks, and it is a different collection. You may find titles in Blackstone that are not available in Libby and vice versa. New titles are added every month. All of the items in Blackstone Unlimited are available to everyone at all times with unlimited uses and no wait times or holds required. However, there are fewer popular and in-demand titles than in Libby.
Libby: This is a service shared among libraries in the state of NH. Items in Libby are purchased with a specific number of licenses or uses, so they work like print books in your library. They check out, return, renew, and may have holds placed. There are many new and popular titles in Libby, but because it is a shared system, wait times may be longer for in-demand titles.
How long do items check out for?
Blackstone Unlimited: Indefinitely. Take as long as you need to listen.
Libby: Items check out for two weeks at a time.
How many can I have checked out at one time?
Blackstone Unlimited: As many as you want.
Libby: You can have up to 3 items checked out at a time.
Are there any fees?
Nope! There is no charge for a library cardholder to use either service. There are no late fees. In both services, items automatically return when their due date passes.
