Friends of the Library receives NASA Summer of Innovation Grant for Pelham!

The Friends of the Library are very excited to announce our successful bid for a Summer of Innovation Grant from NASA to fund our FIRST LEGO League after-school club. FIRST LEGO League is a robotics program designed for kids ages 9-16 yrs old to get them excited about science and technology. Do you have a child with a budding interest in science?

FIRST participants are much more likely to

  • Attend college
  • Major and pursue careers in science or engineering
  • Volunteer in their communities
  • Secure internships
  • Mentor students
  • Become outstanding citizens

The Club will meet twice a week to learn about the FIRST LEGO League challenge, build a robot, perfect the missions, have lots of FUN, work on team building and train for a tournament. This is a great opportunity, as the grant will fund all of the equipment and registration fees!

Interested parents, coaches, mentors, and children should email the Director at asap. Thank you!

The Library is also looking for a committed coach to lead this program. The commitment would be approximately 5 hours a week for 8-10 weeks. We are offering a stipend. Please email the Director for more information.
