Reading to your children every day is the most important thing you can do to prepare them to be readers themselves. Research shows children will have a head start on literacy on their first day of school if they have been read to consistently.
It’s easy to do and all reading counts – even if it is the same book over and over again.
One thousand books seems like a huge number, but it is a very achievable goal. A picture book takes just five minutes to read, and if you read three a night, you will have read 1,095 books in one year!

For every 100 books that your child reads, they will receive a small incentive.
